Joseph Wm. Babcock, O.D.

Dr. Joseph Wm. Babcock was born April 11, 1952 in Portsmouth, Ohio. Dr. Babcock represent the third generation of practicing optometrists. His grandfather, Joseph M. Babcock, Sr. began his
optometric practice with Dr. James Bennett in 1916. He served as the secrectary for the National American Optometric Association for more than two decades. Dr. Babcock's father, Joseph M. Babcock, Jr. joined this practice in 1950. Thirty years later in 1961, Dr. Joseph Wm. Babcock continued the longstanding tradition of providing eyecare to the people of southern Ohio and northern Kentucky.

Dr. Babcock graduated from the Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in zoology in 1975. Dr. Babcock then attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry where he received two degrees, Doctor of Optometry and Bachelor of Science in Physiological Optics.

Dr. Babcock has completed externships in low vision rehabilitation at the prestigious William Feinbloom Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and at the Pediatric Vision Center at the Eye Institute also in Philadelphia.

Dr. Babcock was board certified by the state of Ohio in the use of diagnostic and therapeutic
pharmaceuticals in 1985 and 1992, respectively.

Dr. Babcock has been a member of the Ohio Optometric Association as well as the American Optometric Association since 1981. He is past president of zone 7 of the Ohio Optometric Association. He is a member of Rotary, board member of the Sister City organization, and an active church member.

He is married to his wife Sue. They have three
children: Joseph, Abigail and Taylor. Dr. Babcock
enjoys hunting fishing and gardening.
